We ran our first 5K on Saturday. It was a sunny but cool Saturday morning. We loaded the kids and packed snacks, drinks, hats, gloves and a blanket. Check in was at 8:30 and the race began at 9am.
We lined up in the back behind all the runners because of our double stroller. There was one other stroller runner. The national anthem was sung by a local high school student and then the announcer said, "runners take your mark, set, BANG! We were off.
The course had some hills which made pushing 60 pounds of kids very tough. Andy and I took turns pushing (with him doing more of the pushing.) We jogged and walked and only had to stop once in the last mile to find a pacifier for the littlest one.
The crowd clapped as we came around the last turn. It was exciting. Big Sister couldn't wait to get out of the stroller because she wanted to run the track. I was happy that it was over. I was exhausted.
It was hard. It was fun. It's something that we want to do again.
